Strong, engaging color, dramatic contrast and intricate design are the hallmarks of the acrylic-on-canvas abstract works of award-winning Dallas artist Janice Howell. The results are emotional, usually joyous. Whether it is the bustle of Boston, the peace of a Provence hillside, or the warmth of a Mexican market, she captures the essence of a subject with freedom, spontaneity and individuality. The inspirations for her work are truly global. Sketchbook in hand, she has studied and painted in France, Spain, England, Italy, Mexico, and across the United States including Alaska. Janice Howell originals can be found in homes and businesses from coast to coast, and are held in the municipal collections of the North Texas cities of Plano and Richardson. Creativity is what draws her to abstract art. “It is not a representation of what you see. Abstraction is what you feel and how you interpret that feeling. There is no complacency in it.” EDUCATION MLA Southern Methodist University
